Tropos™  mesh network combines the industry’s most sophisticated metro-scale mesh routing intelligence, designed from the ground up to optimize throughput in a dynamic metro-scale Wi-Fi mesh environment, with carrier-grade centralized element management and a purpose-built hardware platform with peerless Wi-Fi radio performance. The Tropos™  mesh network architecture leverages Wi-Fi to enable high-performing, safe and secure metro-scale mesh deployments that were previously difficult or impossible. The result: the fastest, lowest-cost and simplest wireless broadband solution available anywhere, with >2x the performance of other mesh routing protocols, the ability to scale to thousands of Tropos™  mesh network routers providing hundreds of square miles of contiguous coverage and up to 7x better price-performance than alternatives.

Tropos™  mesh network OS
The Tropos™  mesh network OS forms a wireless mesh, dynamically routing traffic along the highest throughput path to the Internet. At the core of the Tropos™  mesh network OS is the patented Predictive Wireless Routing Protocol (PWRP™). This intelligent routing negates effects of radio frequency (RF) interference, wired backhaul failure and mesh router failure. It scales to thousands of nodes with the lowest routing overhead in the industry, not exceeding 5% of available bandwidth regardless of network size, and is the industry's only purpose-built mesh routing protocol built on the important principal of optimizing client-server throughput.

Tropos™  mesh network OS allows many different user communities using a metro-scale Wi-Fi mesh network to each have their own private network, maximizing return on investment by leveraging the infrastructure investment and fixed costs across the highest possible number of users. It enables session-persistent client mobility across a metro-scale Wi-Fi mesh network, maintaining session persistence as users move throughput the coverage area.

Tropos Control
Tropos Control is a powerful element manager, allowing network operators to perform a plethora of important functions, including over the air configuration and updates of Tropos™  mesh network routers, whole network performance monitoring and statistical capture. The centralized management capabilities of Tropos Control minimize network management and operations costs.

Tropos™  mesh network Routers
Sporting the industry’s best Wi-Fi receive sensitivity and powerful 2.4 GHz radios, the Tropos 5210 outdoor mesh router and Tropos 3210 indoor mesh router can be deployed in the industry’s lowest node density, providing the most economical way to implement a high-performance metro-scale Wi-Fi network. Each Tropos™  mesh network router provides wireless connectivity to standard 802.11b/g clients and extends the coverage area of the metro-scale Wi-Fi network.

The ruggedized and weatherized Tropos 5210 is NRTL certified for outdoor installation. It can be mounted on external structures such as buildings or lampposts in under 15 minutes by a trade-level worker with one tool.

The Tropos 3210 extends the metro-scale Wi-Fi coverage area indoors, providing the same high performance, scalability, metro-scale mobility and multi-use network capability as the Tropos 5210 to hard-to-wire indoor environments.
